How Do I Get A Permit/Schedule An Inspection?
The City of DeWitt is pleased to offer residents, builders, and the business community in all our service communities Cloudpermit - an online system to apply for and track your building permits.
The Cloudpermit building permit system allows you to apply for and to see the status of your application anywhere, at any time. You can start an application and finish it later, and receive email updates on the status of your permit application. You can even request building inspections!

Inspections need 24 hours notice.
If you have questions about permits or inspections contact Building Official, TJ Appleby at 659-3811.
Here are some items that would require a permit:
- a change of foot print to building involving multiple trades (heating, electrical, plumbing)
- furnace
- air conditioner
- fence
- sidewalk
- install an electrical service
- curb cut
- pools
- driveway approach
- sewer repair or replacement
- gas water heaters
- signs
- decks
- demolitions
- sheds larger than 10 x 12
- roof (not required for an unattached garage)

What needs to be inspected:
- footings
- sewer/water connections
- electrical rough in
- heating rough in
- framing rough in
- plumbing rough in
- sidewalk forms
- final inspection
